Jaclyn is a fantastic developmental editor! In addition to her keen line editing, her intuition on what a piece is saying/can say makes her particularly well suited for helping a writer. She brings clarity to a piece by pulling out the themes and highlighting where the potential already present in the piece can be accentuated/clarified/better braided throughout. Her attention to specific details and how they can be used in soft ways to make a hard impact is one of the best I've seen.  And she's really great at seeing what can/should be cut from the piece to leave only the lean muscle with no extraneous fat. I also appreciate that she asks a lot of questions in her edits to help the writer see how/where areas can be interpreted in multiple ways so that the writer can clear up those spaces (where wanted/needed) so that the piece says what it's intended to. Jaclyn's edits are always free of judgment and, despite her being a fantastic writer herself, without ego. I always feel comfortable bringing her pieces that aren't working and she helps me figure out why and how to make them work. I would recommend Jaclyn to any writer.
